Health care institutions can make significant contributions to addressing violence against women by supporting both physicians and victims.(3) Health care workers can play an essential role to deal with this health problem through proper management of battered women and providing full support. However, health care workers might share the same cultural norms and prejudices with victims or perpetrators of interpersonal violence, which would affect their professional attitudes. Moreover, some physicians might think that interpersonal violence is a private family matter and not a health issue. In addition, while the occurrences allocated to this field are inadequate, some health care workers might feel desperate, leading them to professional reluctance.(4-6) Thus the following study was formulated to achieve the following objectives: Estimate attitude of physicians towards domestic violence (DV) against women and Reveal factors affecting attitude of physicians about domestic violence against women. An observational cross-sectional study design was adopted for this study. The study was carried out in the primary health care centers in Kuwait. All physicians available during the field work of the study in the primary health care centers were the target population of this study. A total of 78 health centers are distributed over five health districts in Kuwait. The total number of physicians was 899; out of these, only 565 agreed to share in the study with a response rate of 62.8%. The study covered the period January to August 2010. Data were collected over three months starting from the May to July, 2010.
